Camping
19 campsites offer year-round accommodations with stunning views of the lake, local wildlife sightings, and quiet hideaways from the weekly grind. Click above on the HipCamp tab to go to our reservations page. For information, call (530) 409-5515. The campground is monitored by Campground Hosts.
Day Use
A $6.00 day-use fee is submitted at the main entrance to the park for the Day Use of activities such as fishing, boating, picnicking, swimming, and disc golf for individuals or groups of up to six persons. if you walk in or bike in and use any of the Day Use activities the Fee still applies. Fees are collected on the honor system. Please pay at the kiosk using the appropriate envelope and drop it in the lockbox, or pay in the café when open. There is no additional charge to registered campers for any Day Use activity. Day Use area closes at dark.

Finnon Lake Recreation Area is closed after dark - except for registered campers. Violators are trespassing and will be reported. There are two assigned day-use parking lots in the park. Campground parking is reserved for overnight campers only. Please DO NOT use the café parking lot for day-use activities. Only street-licensed vehicles are allowed in the park - NO dirt bikes or ATVs. All motorized vehicles are required to stay on the main road. Any violation of park rules will be considered trespassing.
Fishing
A California fishing license is required for anyone 16 years or older. Hours for fishing at the lake are from sunrise to sunset. The fishery is maintained by MVFA volunteers and monitored by California Fish and Wildlife officers and biologists. Please, DO NOT leave the fishing line lying on the ground or shoreline. Varieties of fish found in Finnon are Bass, Trout, Blue Gill and Sun Fish.
Boating
All watercraft and trailers must be washed at our boat cleaning facility located just past the recycling bins behind the store. No gasoline-powered boats are allowed on the lake, but electric motors are allowed. Launch all boats (including inflatables) from the boat launch area across the dam. It is clearly marked. Park launch vehicles and trailers in the Day Use parking lot. Do not launch boats (including inflatables and fishing tubes) from the Café parking lot.
Picnicking
There are several picnic sites located in the day-use area. The Day Use swimming area has a sand bottom. There is no lifeguard on duty - swim at your own risk.
Disc Golf
A 27-hole disc golf course encircles the park. It is maintained by volunteer members of the MVFA Disc Golf Committee.
Open Spaces
There are numerous roads and trails within the FLRA available to hikers and bicyclists free of charge. These roads and trails are maintained by MVFA volunteers. Finnon Lake is Pet friendly. El Dorado County LEASH LAWS ARE IN EFFECT.
El Dorado County ordinance requires dog owners to keep their dogs confined to their property in an enclosed area or on a leash at all times. If a loose dog is acting strange, is aggressive or has bitten someone, call Animal Services, or after hours, call the Sheriff's Dispatch at (530) 621-6600.
Due to insurance restrictions, horseback riding is not allowed at Finnon Lake Recreation Area. Hunting is not allowed.
The discharge of any weapon or air-powered paintball or pellet gun is prohibited. Bows and arrows are prohibited.
